I’m a big fan of the Geek Gamers YouTube channel. I find the videos very inspiring, so I bought the Solo Game Master’s Guide by Geek Gamers (published by Modiphius).
One of the things spelled out here is that the concrete situation (or scene) that the characters are in is more important than the story. A campaign evolves because of what happens in the moment, and here it's important to feel into the characters and their needs. It is from these feelings and the character's context that action derives, and the story moves forward. Unpredictably, in many cases. This is what makes roleplaying so exciting: we don’t know what’s going to happen! It’s a bit like watching soccer or other sports: results can be surprising. I love that.
Appendix E in the Geek Gamers Guide has Tables of Connection and Disconnection. This inspired me to expand on this work based on the writings of Marshall Rosenberg. I have attached a PDF with the relevant tables, only slightly edited from the book's content.
Now, while Geek Gamers has two tables, I have three. Table 2 is for connection and Table 3 for disconnection.
Table 1 is about how a character interprets another character in the game. These interpretations are always negative, so they only make sense in combination with a roll on Table 3: Disconnection. This is not a feeling but an interpretation of the aims and goals of the other character. You can use this table in combination with Table 3 to enrich your scene with another level of story.
I hope this is a helpful tool for your adventures!
